Virginia keen to support BD

Governor of Virginia, USA Terence Richard McAulliffe has showed keen interest to support Bangladesh in its development endeavours as he lauded successes of the Bangladesh government in recent years in various sectors.
Governor McAulliffe expressed the interest when Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin called on him at the Governor’s Richmond office on Tuesday, according to a message received here last night.
During the meeting that lasted for about 45 minutes, they discussed issues of mutual interests focusing on possible cooperation in different potential fields between Bangladesh and Virginia, USA.
They also discussed on counter terrorism effort, woman empowerment, trade and commerce including export of apparels from Bangladesh to the USA, particularly to Virginia, cooperation in information Technology, Cyber Security, Healthcare and Agriculture.
The Ambassador informed the Governor that Bangladesh is an emerging economy and her per-capita income has increased threefold in the past eight years.
