“When we shall feel insecure, we cannot go to polling centers in festive mood,” said a private service holder at Motijheel on Wednesday.
Similarly, voters of Dhaka-7 Constituency (Gandaria area) have also expressed their anxiety.
“We see violence every day. In such situation we are undecided about franchising our voting rights. Some time I think I should go ignoring fear, but after few moments the scenes of violence force me to change decision,” said Atikul Islam of the area.
“I may not go to polling station on the voting day, because there is serious enmity between ruling Awami League and the BNP. Besides, police are arresting the BNP men, even their supporters,” said, a trader of Cumilla-3 Constituency.

“Why will we go to vote centers if there is no safety? We may not go there.”
In Faridpur-2 Constituency, the voters fear strike from two ends.
“We are not involved in any politics actively. Yet anyone, Boat or Sheaf of Paddy candidate, may visit our home,” said a 40 year old farmer of Nakulhati village under Saltha thana preferring anonymity.
A man of Saltha told The New Nation he is staying in Dhaka after getting threat to leave the area.
He and other local people told The New Nation that many of the ordinary supporters of Sheaf of Paddy had been asked to leave the area to avoid arrest.
“Then how can we be able to franchise our voting rights?” they said.
