Jo Olav Lunder, CEO of Vimpelcom Ltd, the parent company of Banglalink, the 2nd largest mobile operator in Bangladesh, visited Dhaka to discuss issues of importance. During his activity filled visit to Bangladesh, he met with the Finance Minister, Telecommunications Minister, BTRC Chairman and high officials of Banglalink. Banglalink, the country’s 2nd largest mobile operator in Bangladesh is a key subsidiary of Vimpelcom – the 6th largest telecommunication group in the world. As of December 2013, Vimpelcom has a total subscriber base of over 220 million across its operations in some of the major markets of Europe, North America, Asia and Africa.
Mr. Lunder mentioned Bangladesh as a very promising market for Vimpelcom, demonstrated by the phenomenal subscriber growth in the last couple of years. He also said the potential for the Bangladeshi market is huge and Vimpelcom will continue to invest here. He commended the role of Banglalink for launching some of the best products, services and value offerings in the market – including the roll out of high speed 3G connectivity in October 2013.
