Villagers fight over supremacy in Bhangura

At least eleven people were injured in a clash between villagers in a trivial incident in Bhangura upazila of Pabna. The incident took place on Thursday night (April 14) at Betuan village under Dilpashar union of the upazila. It is reported that after Tarabi prayers, a fight broke out between Ayub Ali and Nazrul Islam Groups of the same village over setting up a mudi shop.
Later, when people from both sides came forward with sticks and sharp weapons, the clash escalated. At least eleven people on both sides were injured. Samsher Ali (40), Rabiul Karim (45), Mokshed Ali (50) and Chaddam Hossain (30) were sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital with bloody injuries. Another seven persons are undergoing treatment at Bhangura Upazila Health Complex.
Dr. Bristy, Medical officer of emergency department of Bhangura Health Complex said seven of the injured were being treated at the health complex. Four others with serious injuries have been sent to Pabna Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. They have bruises on various parts of their head and body.
According to locals, last year the villagers were divided into two groups over the construction of shops and club houses on the Wapda dam in the village. The dispute between them had been going on ever since.
M. Faisal bin Ahsan , 0C of Bhangura thana said that Ayub Ali had filed a case with Bhangura police station accusing 13 people. Police arrested a man named Rabban Ali (25) on Friday.
