Staff Reporter :At least 15 people sustained injuries, six of them bullet-hit, in a clash between two rival groups of villagers in two unions under Sailokupa upazila of Jhenidah district on Monday morning.Our Jhenaidah Correspondent add: The clash ensued over controlling supremacy in the area as well as sowing seed of onion in a field there. During the three-hour long clash, the rival groups attacked each other with sharp weapons, iron rods and sticks. Some houses of the villagers were set on fire. Besides, 10 shops were also ransacked and looted. The clash ensued between the supporters of Dhalharachandra UP chairman and Awami League leader Matiur Rahman and No 10 Bogra UP chairman and also Awami League leader Nazrul Islam over their long rivalry.Police opened around one hundred rounds of short-gun fire to bring the situation under control. A tense situation is now prevailing in the area. Additional police forces have been deployed there to avert further aggravation of the situation. Officer-in-Charge of Sailakupa Police Station Tozammel Haque said the incident mainly occurred over controlling supremacy in the area. The situation is now under control, he said.
