One Didarul Alam Mollik (50), son of Mallik Yusuf Ali of Kumlai-Gaborbunia area under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district was killed by his neighbours at Wednesday night over a trifling matter, according to a report received here.
It is learnt from the police and the locals that at the night (at about 9 pm) a quarrel took place between deceased Didarul Alam and his neighbour Abdus Sattar over a silly matter and at one stage when it reached its climax Abdus Satter and his (banker) son Abu Bakar jointly attached Didarul with lethal weapons. As a result Didarul Alam fell on the ground. Then banker Abu Bakar stabbed him repeatedly with a sharp knife and fled away. Consequently, Didarul was fatally injured.
Being informed of the matter relatives of Didarul Alam rushed to the spot, recovered him from there and took him to Rampal Upazila Health Complex where the physician on duty declared him dead.
In this connection the elder brother of the deceased lodged a case with Rampal PS accusing 4 persons including Abu Bakar and his fatther Abdus Sattar.
Police visited the place of occurrence and arrested Abdus Sattar. When contacted Md. Shamsuddin, Officer-in-charge of Rampal PS admitted the fact and told, one of the accused was already arrested and police are trying to arrest the rest accused persons. The dead body was sent to Bagerfhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
