Vietnam has provided Bangladesh with medical equipment in the form of gifts to help it fight the lingering Covid-19 outbreak.
The gifts – 66 boxes of personal protection equipment (full set: 3,000 pcs) and 80 boxes of surgical facemasks (200,000 pcs) – arrived in Dhaka on a special flight of US-Bangla Airlines on August 18, says a press release.
The foreign ministry received the medical gifts at Hazrat Shahjalal
International Airport in the capital. According the press release, Vietnam was supposed to gift RT-Test Kit too to Bangladesh but it could not do so due to the fresh outbreak of the coronavirus in the Southeast Asian country.
Earlier, a symbolic handover ceremony was held in Hanoi on August 14.
Vietnam’s deputy foreign minister Nguyen Chi Dung and Bangladesh Ambassador to Vietnam Samina Naz were present during the programme.
