The 48th Victory Day was celebrated showing deep homage to the martyrs under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura on Sunday.
With assistance of low enforcers, upazila administration has chalked out different programmes to celebrate Victory Day. Besides, different socio-cultural and professional bodies and institutions, including Shilpakala Academy and University club, Dupchanchia Sammilito pre-cadet school and press club observe the day with elaborate programmes.
No sooner had rising the sun, the national flag was hoisted atop government, semi-government and private offices as well as offices of autonomous bodies across the upazila.
Important roads were decorated with miniature national flags and colourful festoons along with UNO’s resident and upazila administration office.
Marking the day, special prayers was also offered in mosques and other places of worship, seeking salvation of the souls of martyrs of the Liberation War and peace, progress and prosperity of the country.
Later s cultural function, at the UNO office premises, gives recreation among the audience from the evening to 9 pm. Besides, fireworks also displayed to boost recreation after the cultural function marking the day.
A reception was hosted to freedom fighters as well as family members of the martyrs at Dupchanchia upazila freedom fighter office of Bogura on Sunday noonGood number freedom fighters, sufferings from different diseases including old age complications were given assistance at the arrangement of the Upazila Administration marking the Victory Day.
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj reports: Kishoreganj District Administration, District Police, RAB, Pourashava, Awami League, Oikyafront, JASOD, Ganatantree Party, Gono-Forum, CPB, BASOD, BSD and many other organisations have chalked out celebrated the Vicotry Day here in a befiting manner.The programme include a 31 gun salute, placing of wreaths at the movement and local monoment of the martyred, hosting of the national flags a top all public and private building, decorating town streets with National Flages and colourfull posters.
A march past along wih physical displays by Police, Anser-VDP, Fire Service, BNCC, Scouts, Children and students on the Syed Nazrul Islam Stadium.
A victory rally brought out in the town led by D.C Md. Sarowar Morshed Chowhdury, Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM and Ex. Freedom Fighter Unit Commander Md. Asad Ullah.
Gouripur( Mymensingh) Correspondent says: The Victory Day was celebrated in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district amid huge enthusiasm and festivity on Sunday. The beginning of the Victory Day started in the early morning with a 31-gun salute. Farjana Karim ,UNO of Gouripur Upazila ;councilors of Gouripur Pourashava and other officials of the upazila administration and the police department placed floral wreaths on the monument Bijoy-71 at Bangabandhu Chattar of the upazila town.
People from all walks of life and activists of political, cultural and professional organisations, institutions and. clubs, such as Gouripur Pourashava, Gouripur Thana, Gouripur Press Club, Gouripur Sangbadik Oikkay Forum, Gouripur Reporters Club, Gouripur Govt. College, Gouripur Women College, Govt. Technical School and College, Gouripur R.K.Govt. High school, Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Nurul Amin Khan High School, Chader Hat Agradut Niketon, Govt.Textile Vocational Institute also placed floral wreaths at the monument Bijoy-71 and paid homage to the war heroes.
BSS from, Rangpur adds:: The people celebrated the 48th Victory Day amid huge festivities in Rangpur division yesterday with a fresh vow to build a developed ‘Sonar Bangla’ and reach fruits of independence to every citizen.
Thousands of people rushed to the Shaheed Minars and monuments of the martyrs in the district and upazila headquarters and placed wreaths paying rich tributes to the martyred sons and daughters of the soil.
In Rangpur city, the divisional, district and police administrations, Rangpur City Corporation, Awami League (AL) and other political parties, freedom fighters, educational institutions and other organisations celebrated the day with different programmes.
The celebrations began with 31-gun salutes at Police Lines ground, placing wreaths at different monuments of martyred sons and daughters and hoisting of the national flag atop government, semi-government and private buildings with the sunrise.
Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury paid rich tribute to the martyrs of the War of Liberation by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar in Pirganj municipal town in the morning.
In Rangpur city, Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Joynul Bari, Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Devdas Bhattacharya, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Alim Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib,Police Super Mizanur Rahman and other high officials placed wreaths at the Independence Memorial ‘Arjan’, Mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Memorial of the martyred freedom fighters.
Freedom fighters, acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, City Mayor and Jatiya Party leader Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa and President of city BNP Mozaffar Hossain with other leaders of their parties placed wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Later, leaders and activists of JASOD, CPB, BSD, Workers Party and other political parties, NGOs, business, socio-cultural, professional and human rights organisations, educational institutions and other organisations placed wreaths there.
The main buildings and government offices were illuminated, roads and road islands colourfully decorated with the national flag and coloured miniature flags.
Thousands of people participated in the Victory Day mini-marathon and ‘Bijoy’ rally that paraded the streets from Begum Rokeya University to Rangpur Zila School.
The Divisional Commissioner hoisted the national flag and took salute at march-past and displays by freedom fighters, police, Ansar-VDP, BNCC, fire service personnel, students, children, jail guards, scouts, rover scouts and girl guides at Rangpur stadium.
The District Information Office screened documentary films on the War of Liberation and Victory Day.
Freedom fighters and relatives of martyred freedom fighters were accorded receptions.
 Special prayers were offered at all mosques and places of religious worships seeking divine peace for departed souls of the martyred sons and daughters of the soil, progress and welfare of the nation and its people.

The Divisional Commissioner attended the main discussion held on the
Central Shaheed Minar premises as the chief guest at night with the Deputy
Commissioner in the chair.

High officials, political leaders, freedom fighters, civil society members and elite addressed the discussion followed by prize distribution and cultural functions at night.
Similarly, the people of Kurigram, Gaibandha, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Dinajpur districts in Rangpur division celebrated the day amid huge festivities.

that they could properly lead the nation in future to build a developed Bangladesh.
“The young generations should know how their previous generations
struggled under leadership of Father of the Nation Banglabandha Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman to liberate the country,” said Vice Chancellor of Begum Rokeya
University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.
Dr Kalimullah made these observations while speaking at the day-long programmes held on the campus in celebration of the 48th Victory Day.
Earlier, Kalimullah placed wreaths at altar of the Independence Memorial on the campus at the zero hours on the day.
The Vice-chancellor hoisted the national flag in front of the administrative building in the morning and led the ‘Bijoy Shobhayatra-2018’ that paraded the campus and adjoining areas with participation of teachers,
students, officials and employees of the university.

Kalimullah also placed wreaths at the Swadhinota Smritistambha ‘Arjan’
at Modern Mour and Independence Memorial on the university campus. The Vice-
chancellor also inaugurated a permanent stand for hoisting of the national
flag in front of Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall on the campus.

Dean of the Faculty of Arts Professor Dr Parimal Chandra Barman, Dean of
the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr Abu Kalam Md Farid Ul
Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Science Professor Dr Gazi Mazharul Islam,
Professor Dr RM Hafizur Rahman, Professor Dr Md Morshed Hossain and Professor
Dr Sorifa Salowa Dina were present.

Deans of all six faculties, Heads of all 21 Departments, leaders of
Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association and Employees’ Association,
BRUR unit of ‘Muktijuddher Chetonay Pragotisheel Shikhkhok Samaj’, ‘Neel
Dal’, Chhatra League and Dr Wazed Research and Training Institute placed
wreaths at the Independence Memorial on the campus.

Sports competitions were also organised for teachers, students,
officials and employees on the playing ground and drawing competitions for
children on the War of Liberation and struggles for independence at central
cafeteria on the campus.

BSS from Rajshahi reports: The great Victory Day was celebrated in the divisional city and the district yesterday with a renewed vow for building a happy, prosperous and non-communal Bangladesh with spirit of the Great War of Liberation.
Divisional and District Administrations, Rajshahi City Corporation, scores of political, socio-cultural, voluntary, professional bodies and trade organisations placed wreaths at different Shaheed minars including Bhuban Mohan Park, Rajshahi College, Talaimari, Rajshahi University, Police Line and Collectorate Building.
City and district units of Bangladesh Awami League celebrated the day through various programmes like victory rally, placing of wreaths, discussionmeeting and other cultural functions.
The programmes of the day heralded with 31 gun salute at dawn on the local Police Line Parade Ground.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton placed wreaths at Bhuban Mohan Park first followed by scores other including leaders of different political parties.
In the early morning, streams of people irrespective of age and sex thronged the city streets leading to the Shaheed Minars.
The programmes also included hoisting of the national flag atop all public and private buildings, illumination and decoration of road islands, roadsides, educational institutions and buildings with national flag and coloured miniature posters and banners.
District administration organized colorful march past at district
stadium with participation of valiant freedom fighters, police, Ansar-VDP, fire service, BNCC, boys scout, girl guides, school, college and madrasa students and members of different orphanages, safe home and cultural organizations.
Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, DIG of Police of Rajshahi Range Khurshid Hussain, RMP Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter, Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader and Superintendent of Police hoisted the national flag and took salutes of the march past.
Documentary films on life and contributions of Bangabandhu, War of Liberation and successes of the present government `Bangladesh Uttroner Mohajatra’ were screened at different places.
Improved diets were served to inmates of hospitals, jails, shishu paribars, vagabond centres, orphanages and shelter homes.
Various educational institutions including Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi Medical University, Rajshahi Medical College, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, Barind Multipurpose Development Authority, Bangladesh Silk Development Board and Rajshahi Education Board celebrated the Victory Day through separate programmes.
Marking the celebration, recreational and amusement parks and other visiting places remained open for the visitors throughout the day.
