The 44th Victory Day was celebrated in Rangpur in a befitting manner on Tuesday, recalling the supreme sacrifices made by millions of people.
In Rangpur the day began with 31 gun salutes. Thereafter City Mayor Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu, Divisional Commissioner Md Dilwar Bakht, DIG Humayun Kabir , Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahmed, SP Abdur Razzaque, different political parties, socio-cultural organisations and educational institutions placed floral wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar in the city and paid tributes to the heroes of the liberation war.
A colourful march past by Police, Ansar, VDP and children youth organisations took place at Rangpur stadium.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at local public library ground. Among others City Mayor, political leaders, government officials, local elites, journalists took part in the discussion meeting.
The day’s other programmes included photo exhibition, film show on liberation war, cultural shows, drawing competition, special diets were served in the hospitals, jail and orphanages.
Besides, Begum Rokeya University Rangpur and different political parties, cultural organisations and educational institutions observed the day separately.
Monirampur Correspondent (Jessore) says: The Victory Day was celebrated in Monirampur . On the occasion Mukti Joddha Commend Council, Awami League , BNP , other organizations and educational institutions chalk out different programems.
To celebrate the Day Mukti Joddha command placed wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and also Shaheed Minar. They was hold a discussion meeting where commander MM Nazrul Islam presided. Besides, Awami League was placing wreaths at the portrait of Banga Bondhu Shakh Mujibur Rahman and also Shahid Minar. Chuadanga Correspondent reports: The 44th Victory Day was celebrated in Chuadanga districts and four upazila of the district with a fresh pledge to materialist the dreams of the martyrs and lead the country to prosperity by eradicating poverty, diseases and illiteracy.
To mark the day the district administration chalked out a week long elaborate program jointly with different social-cultural organization booming of 31-gun salute placing wreaths at sadar thana square and hoisting national flag atop all public and government building the highlight of the day was the march past participated by police, Ansar V.D.P, Boy-scouts, Girl Guides and the members of various children’s, organizations, D.C and S.P of Chuadanga were present at the march-past other highlights of the day were discussion meeting. Seeking diving blessing of the martyred freedom fighters. Distribution of sweets, improved diet among the inmates of hospitals orphanages and jails.
Staff Reporter from Kishoreganj says: The Victory Day was celebrated in Kishoreganj in a befitting manner on Tuesday. Kishoreganj District Administration has chalked out different programmes to celebrated the in a befitting manners. Deputy Commissioners S M Alam inaugurated the programmes by placing wreaths at Josodol Bhodh-Bhumi.
A march past along with physical displays by police, Answer-VDP, fire service, BNCC, scouts, children and students a the local stadium, victory rally, screening of documentary films on the War of Liberation, a friendly football match and sports competitions and cultural functions were also be held. Freedom fighters and family members of the martyred were accorded a reception on the occasion. Besides, a discussion meeting was held at Shilpakala Academy auditorium marking the significance of the day.
Special prayers were offered at mosques, temples, churches, pagodas and other places of worship. Improved diet will be served to hospitals, jails, orphanages and vagabond centers in the district on the occasion.
