The Victory Day was observed in Gouripur Upazila with much enthusiasm and fresh pledge to build more prosperous and developed country on Saturday.
 The programme of the Victory Day started at 6: 34 AM in the early morning with a 31-gun salute. Freedom fighter Nazim Uddin Ahmed MP, Ahammed Tayebur Rahman Hiron, Gouripur Upazila Chairman , Margina Akter ,UNO of Gouripur Upazila ; Syed Rafiqul Islam, Mayor of Gouripur Pourashava, councilors of Gouripur Pourashava and other officials of the upazila administration and the police department placed wreaths on the monument- Bijoy-71 at Bangabandhu Chattar of the upazila town.
People from all walks of life and activists of political, cultural and professional organisations, institutions and. clubs, such as Gouripur Pourashava, Gouripur Thana, Gouripur Press Club, Gouripur Reporters Club, Gouripur Govt. College, Gouripur Women College, Govt. Technical School and College, Gouripur R.K.Govt. High school, Gouripur Pilot Girls High School, Nurul Amin Khan High School, Chader Hat Agradut Niketon, Govt.Textile Vocational Institute also placed floral wreaths at the monument and paid homage to the war heroes. In the morning , colourful rallies were brought out by different organizations which paraded through the main roads of the town and joined Gouripur playground.
BSS from Rangpur reports: The 47th Victory Day was celebrated amid huge festivity in Rangpur division on Saturday with a fresh vow to building a prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ free from corruption, militancy and terrorism.
Thousands of the cheering people thronged the Shaheed Minars and monuments of the martyrs in the district and upazila headquarters and placed wreaths there to pay rich tribute to the martyred since the zero hours.
The district administration, City Corporation, Awami League (AL), its associate bodies and other political parties, freedom fighters, educational institutions and other organisations celebrated the day through elaborate programmes.
The celebrations began at the zero hours with 31-gun salute at Police Lines Ground and placing wreaths at the Independence Memorial ‘Arjan’ and Central Shaheed Minar in the city.
Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Khondker Golam Faruk, Acting President of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Wahiduzzaman, Police Super Mizanur and District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu first placed wreaths.
Later, leaders of AL, its associate bodies and other political parties, different socio-cultural and professional organisations, heads of educational institutions and other organisations placed wreaths.
BSS from Gaibandha reports: The great Victory Day was celebrated in the district on Saturday in a befitting manner with a fresh vow to build a happy, prosperous and peaceful Bangladesh.
Marking the day, district administration, various cultural organizations, political parties and educational institutions chalked out elaborate programmes.
The day’s programmes began through placing wreaths, 31 gun salutes and hoisting the national flag atop all public and private buildings.
District administration, police department, district Muktijoddha Sangshad, leaders and workers of district Awami League (AL), district BNP, Jatiya party and other political parties, educational institutions and socio-cultural organizations celebrated the day by placing wreaths at the monument in the Poura Park of the town.
BSS from Rajshahi, adds: The Victory Day-2017 was celebrated in the divisional city as well as different parts of the district on Saturday with a renewed vow for building Bangladesh as a happy, prosperous and non-communal country with spirit of the Great War of Liberation.
Divisional and district administrations, Rajshahi City Corporation, scores of political, socio-cultural, voluntary, professional bodies and trade organisations placed wreaths at different Shaheed minars including Bhuban Mohan Park, Rajshahi College, Talaimari, Rajshahi University, Police Line and Collectorate Building.
City and district units of Bangladesh Awami League celebrated the day through various programmes like victory rally, placing of wreaths, discussion meeting and other cultural functions.
The programmes of the day heralded with 31gun- salute at dawn on the local Police Line Parade Ground.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Musaddeque Hossain Bulbul placed wreaths at Bhuban Mohan Park first followed by scores other including leaders of different political parties.
The programmes also included hoisting of the national flag atop all public and private buildings, illumination and decoration of road islands, roadsides, educational institutions and buildings with national flag and coloured miniature posters and banners.
District administration organized colorful march-past at district stadium with participation of police, Ansar-VDP, fire service, BNCC, boys scout, girl guides, school, college and madrasa students and members of different orphanages, safe home and cultural organizations.
Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, DIG of Police of Rajshahi Range Khurshid Hussain, RMP Commissioner Mahbubor Rahman and Deputy Commissioner Helal Mahmud Sharif hoisted the national flag and took salutes of the march- past.
Documentary films on life and contributions of Bangabandhu, War of Liberation and successes of the present government ‘Bangladesh Uttroner Mohajatra’ were screened at different places.
Marking celebration of the day, some 1,500 students of Rajshahi College formed a human-map of Bangladesh on the college playground drawing attention of scores of people.
Improved diets were served to inmates of hospitals, jails, shishu paribars, vagabond centres, orphanages and shelter homes for the elderly people.
Various educational institutions including Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi Medical College, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank, Barind Multipurpose Development Authority, Bangladesh Silk Development Board and Rajshahi Education Board celebrated the Victory Day through separate programmes.
Marking the celebration, recreational and amusement parks and other visiting places remained open for the visitors throughout the day.
