The 45th victory day was celebrated at Rajshahi University campus on Wednesday with paying tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the country’s liberation war in 1971.
The university authorities and different political and socio-cultural organizations of the campus celebrated the day with much enthusiasm.
The national and university flags were hoisted atop the administrative building, residential hall and other buildings of the university with rising of the sun while different buildings were decorated with colorful lightings.
The day’s programme on campus began with placing wreaths at the university shaheed minar by the vice chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin at 6:30am where RU Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, Treasurer Prof Sayen Uddin Ahmed were present, among others. They observed one-minute silence there in respect of martyrs.
Later, Rajshahi University Teacher’s Association, different cultural and political organizations and hall authorities placed wreaths at shaheed minar.RU VC along with other high officials also placed wreaths at the university mass grave.
