Victoria Sorting Club posted an exciting 23-run victory over Prime Bank Cricket Club in the rain-interrupted curtail match of Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL) held on Sunday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Chasing a massive winning target of 273 runs set by Victoria, Prime Bank could able to score 249 from their allotted 40 overs, despite a fighting half centuries by opener Mehedi Maruf (55 runs off 43 balls) and Nurul Hasan (52 off 48 balls).
Maruf smashed five boundaries and three over boundaries while Nurul hit eight fours.
Mahbub Alam was the most successful bowler for Victoria as he picked up two wickets conceding 48 runs.
Earlier, Victoria Sorting Club, rode on brilliant half centuries by Abdul Mazid (72) and Mominul Haque (55) to piled up a massive total of 272 for 6 in reduced 40 overs, after they opted to bat first.
Opener Mazid smacked 10 boundaries and a over boundary during his 68-bal stay on the crease while Mominul supported him as he smashed four over boundaries and four boundaries during his 47-ball play.
Mohammad Azam picked up two wickets for Prime Bank conceding 65 runs.
Abdul Mazid of Victoria was named the player of the match for his impressive batting performance.
