Opener Abdul Mazid hit a brilliant ton steered Victoria Sporting Club to crush Brothers Union Club by 112 runs in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Saturday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur in the city.
Batting first after winning the toss, Victoria, rode on Mazid’s 118-run knock, posted a massive total of 302 for 9 from their allotted 50 overs.
Mazid smacked 11 boundaries and 4 over boundaries during his 117-ball stay on the crease. Nabil Samad was the pick of Brothers bowler as he claimed four wickets giving away 50 runs.
He was well supported by Iftekhar Sajjad and Asif Hasan, who both bagged two wickets each conceding 45 and 66 runs respectively.
In reply, Brothers Union Club found the chase very stiff losing wickets in regular intervals and finally dismissed at 190 in 45.3 overs, despite a fighting knock by skipper Tushar Imran (93).
Mahbubul Alam caused the major damage as he took three Brothers Union’s wickets conceding 33 runs while Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Al-Amin captured two wickets each for 25 and 34 runs.
Abdul Mazid of Victoria was named the player of the match for his brilliant hundred in the match.
