UNB, Dhaka :
The five online message and voice services- Viber, Tango, WhatsApp, Mypeople and Line-blocked by the government on security ground on Sunday and Monday, were unblocked on Thursday.
A high official at the Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC), the telecom regulatory body, told UNB that these online message and voice services have been unlocked.
The BTRC suspended the services at the directive of the Home Ministry following requests from intelligence agencies. “Now the services have been reopened as there has been no further direction,” the official said.
On Sunday, the government temporarily blocked Viber and Tango on security grounds and asked the country’s all mobile phone operators to stop these services.
Later, on Monday, WhatsApp, Mypeople and Line were blocked until January 21 midnight following proposals from law enforcement agencies.
