Speakers at Netrakona workshop say: VGD changing life-style of extreme poor women in society

Speakers at a day-long workshop on “Social audit findings on vulnerable group development (VGD) Project of the government” said here yesterday that the VGD is a pragmatic group feeding programme under the social safety net programme of the government for changing the life-style of the extreme poor women in the society and improving their socio-economic condition.
They also laid emphasis for ensuring transparency and accountability in the process for preparing the lists of the VGD card holders and distributing of foodgrains among the card holders so that none could be allowed to do corruption or nepotism oriented activities.
Dushtha Shaisthya Kendra (DSK), SCOPE (Strengthening Community Based Organizations for Pro-poor Democratic Governance) project and District Federation Coordination Committee jointly organized the workshop at Netrakona Zila Parishad hall room here aiming at sharing opinions or collecting suggestions of the participants on ” the matters relating to social audit findings on the VGD programs” District women affairs officer Ferdousi Begum formally inaugurated the inaugural function was addressed, among others, by field-coordinator of the DSK Shama Prashad Chakraborty, chairman of Maghan union parishad in Mohanganj upazila Abu Baker Siddike, chairman of Kalmakanda union under of Kalmakanda Upazila Golam Moula and local tribal women leader of Kalmakanda Upazila Getro Rema.
