Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif said lands falling under the Vested Property Return Act would be handed over to the real owners after correctly determining the ownership.
“One will not get land just after making a claim on return from India. Lands will be returned to their real owners after verifying the ownership,” he said this on Thursday while inaugurating a workshop on vested property at the Officers’ Club at Baily Road in the city. Presided over by Land ministry Senior Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam, the workshop was addressed by State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhurty as special guest. Additional Secretaries Ibrahim Hossain Khan and Moazzem Hossain also spoke on the occasion, among others.
The land minister urged the officers in civil administration to sincerely work without fear and hesitation for the welfare of the people.
State Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said the vested properties would be returned to their actual owners. If any real owner is not found, the property would remain under government custody, he added.
The land ministry enjoys very little reputation, he said and urged the officials to work with honesty and fairness to earn a good name for the ministry.
