Verdict on BR graft case against Mridha today

The verdict of the sensational appointment and corruption cases against Bangladesh Railway (BR) officials, including the former general manager of BR, eastern zone, Yusuf Ali Mridha is scheduled to be announced on Thursday.
The court of Chittagong Divisional Special Judge Mir Ruhul Amin will
deliver the verdict of the two cases filed for corruption in appointment of Fuel Checker and Ticket Issuer posts against Mridha and suspended Senior Welfare Officer Golam Kibria, suspended Additional Chief Engineer (mechanical) Hafizur Rahman, appointment aspirants Abul Kashem and Anisur Rahman.
The former BR GM Mridha was suspended on charges of seizure of huge amount of money from the vehicle of Omor Faruk, assistant personal secretary to late Railway Minister Suranjit Sen Gupta, in Dhaka on April 9, 2012. Mridha, who was in the same vehicle and suspended from the service after the incident, is at present in jail. After the incident the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case with city’s Kotwali thana on September 10, 2012 against Mridha and four others for their alleged involvement in graft in appointment of Fuel Checker and Ticket Issuer.
The investigation officer submitted the chargesheet against five accused on
August 13, 2013.
