Verdict in Nusrat murder Oct 24

The Women and Children Repression Tribunal of Feni yesterday (Monday) decided to deliver its verdict in the case filed on the murder of Feni madrasah student Nusrat Jahan Rafi on October 24.
The special tribunal judge Mamunur Rashid fixed the date on Monday, after completion of the arguments of the two sides.
Meanwhile, Public Prosecutor (PP) Hafez Ahmed who stood for the state sought maximum punishment of the accused. Among the 16 accused in the case, 12 confessed to their involvement in killing Nusrat, a student of Sonagazi Islamia Madrasah, in the court during the trial proceedings.
On May 30, Senior Judicial Magistrate court Judge Jakir Hossain transferred the case to the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal for quick trial.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted the charge-sheet against 16 persons for the death of the student to the court on May 29.
They are Principal SM Siraj ud Doula, Nur Uddin, 20, Zobair Hossain, Jabed Hossain alias Shakhawat Hossain Jaber, 19, Absar Uddin, 33, Abdur Rahim Sharif, 20, Iftekhar Uddin Rana, 22, Ruhul Amin, Umme Sultana Poppy alias Tuhin alias Shampa alias Champa,19, Kamrun Nahar Moni, 19, Maksud Alam alias Moksud, 50, Hafez Abdul Kader, 25, Imran Hossain alias Mamun, 22, Mohiuddin Shakil, 20, Mohammad Shamim, 20 and Shahadat Hossain Shamim, 20.
The PBI pressed charges dropping the names of five persons, out of the total 21 accused of the case. They submitted an 808-page charge-sheet in the court of Magistrate Jakir Hossain.
Nusrat Jahan Rafi, 18, an Aleem examinee from Sonagazi Fazil Madrasa was set on fire by several persons including some of fellows in the morning of April 6 as she refused to withdraw a case filed against the madrasah principal for sexual harassment.
After fighting for her life for five days, Nusrat succumbed to injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital’s burn unit on the night of April 10, five days after the heinous incident.
