Forest guards of Bhola patrol outpost within Sharankhola Forest Station office under Sharankhola Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarbans (in Bagerhat district) seized 5/6 kgs hunt-banned (spotted) deer of Sundarban, 20/25 kgs lobsters caught after using poison or pesticides and one bottle pesticide from a small boat at Tetulbria are in Roybaghini canal at Tuesday night, according to a report received here.
Samanul Kabir, Officer-in-charge of Bhola patrol outpost told, acting on secret information at the night a contingent of forest guards raided the area and found a small boat in the Roybaghini canal, But sensing the appearance of forest guards poachers, 5/6 in number, fled away into the deep forest leaving the boat in the canal. Then the forest guards searched the boat and seized the venison and lobsters. In the following morning (Wednesday) the venison and lobsters after mixing with kerosene oil dumped into the forest near the patrol outpost.
Another report states that a python, 16 feet in length and weighing 15 kgs, entered into a poultry cell belonging to one Billal Khan of village Sonatala under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district after crossing the river Bhola that separates Sundarbans from the human habitations in the morning of Wednesday in search of food. On information forest guards reached the place of occurrence, recovered the python from there and took it to Sharankhola Forest Station office. Later, it was released in Sundarbans.
Md. Asaduzzaman, Officer-in-charge of Sharankhola Forest Station Office confirmed both the new items and told, a case will be lodged with the local PS under Forest Act in connection with the seize of flesh of hunt-banned deer of Sundarbans.
