Venezuela will begin preparations for a new World Cup qualifying campaign with friendlies against Iceland and the United Arab Emirates next month, the Venezuelan Football Federation said on Friday. The matches will be the South American team’s first appearances since June, when they won friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Malta. “[We] will travel to Europe again to face Iceland on Thursday, September 22, and the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday, September 27 in Vienna, Austria,” read a post on the Venezuelan national team’s official social media accounts. The Vinotinto finished last in the 10-team South American qualifying group for this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
