A balloon vendor was killed and six others injured as his gas-cylinder blasted in the city’s Madhya Badda area on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Ali Hossain, 35, son of Amir Bepari, hailed from Char Dhanukathi village in Damudda upazila of Shariatpur district. He used to live in Panchtala area of the city’s Madhya Badda.
Witnesses said, the gas-cylinder of the balloon vendor went off with a big bang when Ali and his workmen were working in his workshop around 10:30 am, leaving Ali and six others critically injured.
The injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Ali dead.
Mozammel Haque, in-charge of DMCH police camp, confirmed the incident.
