Vegetables’ price still high in city kitchen markets

Prices of winter vegetables have remained steady in the city’s kitchen markets at the weekend of Friday, but fish price is beyond the purchasing power of most of the consumers.
From a survey, it was found that potato (new) was selling at Tk 80 to 100 per kg, potato (old) at Tk 30 to 35 per kg, tomato (green) at Tk 30 to 40, tomato (ripe) at Tk55 to 60, bean at Tk 35 to 40, brinjal at Tk40 to 45, okra at Tk 50, green chilli at Tk 80 to 90, french at Tk 70 to 80, tomato at Tk 80 to 90, tomato green at Tk 85 to 90, carrot at Tk 30 to 40 kg, potato (old) at Tk 26 to 30 kg, bitter gourd at Tk 35 to Tk 45, cucumber at Tk 20 to 30, spone gourd at Tk 45 to 50, arum at 35 to 45, radish at Tk 20 to 25, papaya at Tk 20, snake gourd at Tk 30 to 40, pumpkin (medium size) at Tk 40 to 50 per piece, cauliflower at Tk 25 to 35 per piece, cabbage at 20 to 30, bottle gourd at Tk 40 to 50, ash gourd at Tk 25 to 30 per piece, coriander leaves at Tk 100 kg. Capsicum (red) at Tk 300 kg and capsicum (green) at Tk 250 to 300 kg.
Of fishes, two pieces of hilsha weighing about 700 grams to 750 grams were selling
at Tk 1200 to 1300 at Karwan Bazar fish. Of the other fishes, Puti was selling at Tk 200 per kg, puti (live) at Tk 320 kg, Kholisa at Tk 250, Chapila at Tk 300, cultivated koi at Tk 200 to 220 per kg, koi river at Tk 400. Fali Chanda (Rupchada) at Tk 1100 kg, Chanda small at Tk 200 kg, walking fish (Shoal) at Tk 300 kg, Eel at Tk 300 to 600 kg, Meni at Tk 250 kg, Sheat (boal) at Tk 350 to 800 kg, Ek-thota (Kaitta fish) at Tk 300 to Tk 500, Baila at Tk 400 to 600 kg, Coral Fish at 550 kg, river Pangas at Tk 300 kg, cultivated Pangas at Tk 130 kg, Rajputi at Tk300 kg, Tilapia at Tk 140 to Tk 200 kg, Ruhit at Tk 250 to Tk 350 kg, medium size carp (katol) at Tk 230 -260 a kg, big size katol at Tk 300 kg, local variety of Cat fish (Shing) at Tk 400-500 a kg, barbel at Tk 700 kg, lobster at Tk 500 to 700 kg, and shrimp (River) at Tk 300-400 kg.
The local onion was selling at Tk 65 to 70 per kg, while the imported onion at Tk 55 to 52 per kg. Imported garlic was selling at Tk 90 to 100 kg only, and local garlic at Tk 80 kg. Imported ginger was selling at Tk 100 to 120 per kg. The locally produced ginger was selling at Tk 80 to 90 kg based on quality.
Beef is selling for Tk 400 per kg at khilgaon and the red meat at Tk 550 to 600. A medium size local cock was selling at Tk 380 to 500 per piece and hen at Tk 300 to 370. The boiler chickens’ price stands at Tk 135 to 145 per kg. The egg (farm) was selling at Tk 35 per hali (4 pieces), egg (local) at Tk 50 and egg (duck) at Tk 45 to Tk 48. Pigeon per pair was selling at Tk180 to Tk 250 and four koil birds were selling at Tk 200 based on size.
The red lentil was selling at Tk 130 per kg while the imported item (coarse variety) at Tk 115 kg over the week. Five liters of Rupchanda brand canned soybean oil aere selling at Tk 490 to Tk 505, loose super palm oil at 75 per liter, sugar price at Tk 48 to 50 per kg and molasses at Tk 70 to 120 and flattened rice at Tk 70 to 90.  
The coarse rice was selling in retail at Tk 32 to 34 per kg, Pyjam at Tk 40 to 42 kg, Nazirshail brand of rice at Tk 48 to 52 kg, Minicate at Tk 47-54 kg, Kattari bhog at Tk 75, Pillau rice (Badsha bhog) at Tk 90 to 120 kg and Kalijira at Tk 115 to 130 kg only. Coarse flour was selling at Tk40 per kg and a 2-kg packet at Tk 75.
