Famers of the district have brought a vast tract of land under the cultivation of winter vegetables at all the nine upzillas and different areas of Khulna city.
According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), over 6,000 hectares of land have been brought under the cultivation of winter vegetables with a production target of 1,07,390 tonnes in the current season.
Abdul Latif, deputy director of Khulna DAE Abdul Latif, said favourable weather, availability of high-yielding seeds and fertilizers helped farmers to bring their land under winter vegetables cultivation in time. Besides, different commercial banks, including Khulna Krishi Bank and NGOs, have disbursed agriculture loans among the farmers to make the massive winter vegetables farming a success.
