Almost all the vegetables in the capital’s kitchen market are showing downtrend, but carrot and brinjal are still high despite adequate supply.
Howbeit, the price of beef, chicken and fish has remained stable in the capital’s kitchen markets.
About carrot price, the traders said, it is not the carrot season. As a result , the supply of carrot in the market has fallen Now it is being sold at Tk 60 to Tk 70 compared with Tk 20 to Tk 30 a week ago. Karwanbazar trader Abdul Halim said the carrot price would fall to Taka one hundred Taka per kg supply increasing.
On the other hand, the brinjal is being sold at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg while cucumber at Tk 20 to Tk 30. Of the other vegetables, tomato is selling at Tk 30 to Tk 40 whereas one week before it was Tk 40 to Tk 50.
The onion sells at Tk 30 whereas one week before
it was selling at Tk 40 and imported onion is being sold Tk 40 and earlier it was Tk 60 to Tk 65.
The bottle gourd was selling at Tk 50 to 60 at Karwan Bazar, cauliflower, broccoli and cabbages were selling at Tk 40 to Tk 50 per piece based on its size and quality.
Pumpkin sells at Tk 70 per kg, bean at Tk 80 per kg, papaya at Tk 30 to Tk 35, green chilli at Tk 80 to Tk 90, potato (new) at Tk15 to Tk 20, the local variety of newly-harvested a bit higher, carrot at Tk 50 to Tk 60 per kg based on size and quality, okra at Tk 80 per kg, ash-guard at Tk 70 to Tk 80 per piece and tomato at Tk40 to Tk50.
Leafy vegetables, such as spinach, were selling at Tk15 to Tk 20 per bundle, red spinach at Tk10 to Tk15, green spinach at Tk 20 per bundle and coriander leaves at Tk120 per kg.
In terms of poultry meat, the prices of broiler chicken is Tk 170 to Tk 175 per kg, layer chicken is Tk 245 a kg, while the prices of Pakistani cock or golden chicken is Tk 310 to Tk 340 per kg. The home born poultry sells at Tk 600 to 700 per kg and the egg is being sold at its previous price of Tk 110 per dozen.
Meanwhile, beef is selling for Tk 650 per kg, red meat at Tk 700 to 800 and Hilsha sells at Tk 1000 to 1200 only per kg. Rohit and Carp were sold at Tk 250-350 a kg, walking fish at Tk 500-600, Telapia and Pangas at Tk 150-170.
The shrimp price at Tk 600-650 only, cat fish was selling at Tk 400 to 450 at Baganbari, South Goran on Friday, Taki fish at Tk 350, Papda at Tk 400 and boal machh at Tk 600 only.
