The price of winter vegetables have come down further. Many buyers are saying that vegetables are getting cheaper after a long time.
Traders say prices of winter vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, beans, and radishes have come down further due to increased supply.
With this, the price of winter vegetables came down for two consecutive weeks, reports media.
The price of beans has come down the most. In the span of two weeks, the price of beans has come down to one third.
In this regard, Ataur Rahman, a resident of Gopibagh area of the capital, said: “Beans that I bought a month ago at Tk120 have now come down to Tk30.”
Abdul Hamid, a vegetable trader in Kawran Bazar, said: “Vegetable prices have come down due to increased supply. Prices may fall further in future.”
Meanwhile, the price of local onion has also come down to Tk65 this week.
On Friday, after visiting various markets in the capital it was seen that beans are being sold at Tk30 to 40 per kg which was Tk50 to 60 last week. While two weeks ago it was Tk120.
Besides beans, prices of cauliflower and cabbage, two of the main winter vegetables, have also come down. Medium size cauliflower is being sold at Tk25 to 40, which was Tk30 to 50 last week.
And small cauliflower is available at Tk20 like last week. Two weeks ago, the price of a small cauliflower was over Tk40.
Medium-sized cabbage is being sold at Tk30 to 40, which was Tk30 to 50 last week. And small cabbage is available at Tk20. Radish, which was sold at Tk50 per kg two weeks ago, is now available at Tk20 to 30.
Ripe tomatoes which were sold at Tk120 to 140 per kg last week have come down to Tk100.
Newly arrived raw tomatoes are being sold at Tk40 to 60 per kg. Turnip is being sold at Tk50 to 70 per kg. And the price of bottle gourd has come down to Tk40 to 50 which was Tk70 to 80 last week.
Depending on the market and quality, carrots are being sold at Tk80 to 100 per kg as before. String beans are being sold at Tk60 to 80 per kg
like last week. Aubergine is being sold for Tk40 to 60, bitter gourd for Tk60 to 70 and potatoes at Tk40 per kg as before.
During the week, the prices of ladies fingers, gourd, padwal and arum have remained unchanged.
However, the prices of these vegetables have come down a bit in the last week. Ladies fingers cost Tk50 to 60 per kg, which was Tk70 to 90 two weeks ago. Padwal is being sold at Tk50 to 60 which was at Tk60 to 80 per kg. Jhinga is being sold at Tk40 to 50 per kg which was Tk60 two weeks ago.
Arum stems are being sold at Tk40 to 50 which was Tk70 to 80 previously.
Local onions, which were sold at Tk70 to 90 per kg last week, are now available at Tk65 to 75 per kg.
Imported onions are selling at Tk40 to Rs 50 per kg like last week. As in the previous week, 250 grams of green chillies are being sold at Tk20 to 30.
Meanwhile, like last week, a dozen eggs are being sold at Tk90 to 95. The price of broiler chicken has gone up a bit. The price of broiler chicken, which was sold at Tk120 per kg last week, has gone up to Tk130.
