Vegetable growers busy in rearing crops in Dupchanchia

Farmers of Dupchanchia upazila under Bogra district are passing busy time rearing winter vegetables in the current season for getting bumper production. They have already started harvesting early cultivated vegetable across the area and making money selling them in the kitchen markets from last month.
According to official sources said, around 230 hectares of land have been brought under winter vegetables cultivation aiming financially self-reliant. The farmers will make a good profit from the winter crops if the weather condition remains favourable till March, official added.
While visiting the correspondent found that farmers are keeping busy themselves to rear different kinds of vegetables like lal shak, Palongshak, cauliflower, cabbage, egg-plant, onion, coriander, radish etc. They export their producing vegetables to another district including capital.
Asim Kumar Das (45) of Palpara village under the Upazila said, he has cultivated lalshakh vegetables on 25 decimal of land near his residence spending TK. 7000 in this current season aiming financially self solvent. In the meantime he has sold Tk 22,500 from his vegetable produces and he can sell Tk. 9,000 to 10,000 more from his field if the weather condition is fabourable, said Asim during visit his field.
Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC), Dupchanchia has provided quality vegetable seeds among the farmers in order to increase its production for cutting poverty condition from the area.
Besides, Rajshahi Krishi Unnayon Bank (RAKUB) has provided easy- term loan among farmers to make the efforts a success.
Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) official , said this correspondent that fertile soil and weather condition is favourable for making the programme a grand success across the district in this season .Besides, our field workers closely monitoring the crop as a result farmers are excepting excellent production in this region, he added.
