Vegetable farming makes Reshad solvent

Reshad Ali, who is cultivating corps in leased land, has become solvent by farming vegetables this year.
Reshad Ali was born in a poor family at Boro Manika Union under Borhanuddin Upazila of Bhola district.
He has been facing hardship since his childhood. Now he runs four-member family including two daughters .
Basically, Reshad Ali used to cultivate corps in the leased lands in his village.
Last year, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer of the upazila encouraged him to cultivate vegetable and he chose the idea.
He took lease 212 decimal land for vegetable cultivation.
Reshad Ali cultivated Rekah (local name) on 56 decimal lands costing Tk 20,000. He has already sold the ‘Rekah’ at Tk 1,00,000.
He invested Tk 25,000 in 24 decimal lands for gourd and sold Tk 95,000 till January 15 this year.
He earned Tk 40,000 from cauliflower investing Tk only 12,000 in 32 decimal ands
Reshad Ali expects that he will get Tk 2,00,000 from his potato field He has spent Tk only 40,000 here.
Talking to The New Nation farmer Reshad Ali said, “I am a poor farmer. Hardship is my company since my childhood. But now I have started seeing dreams a lot as I have earned huge money cultivating vegetables this year.”
Agriculture Officer of Borhanuddin upazila Md Omar Faraque told The New Nation that his office has provided assistance to Reshad Ali in every step. Reshad Ali has changed his fate through hard work and his dedication in farming. His work will inspire every farmer in the area,” he said.
