Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, called upon the Village Defense Force(VDF) to take on the ‘additional responsibility’ of combating the terrorists-of-fire.
The minister said this on Wednesday while speaking to a delegation of the VDF when they met him at his official Hare Road residence in the city.
He told the VDF personnel that in addition to fighting regular crimes like theft and robbery they would also have to combat the neo-militants who were resorting to a new type of violence.
“Beware of all those Khaleda Zia is supporting as they are neo-militants,” the minister said.
He also said that Khaleda was taking respite from her violent movement to regroup, again.
The VDF delegation thanked the information minister in building up the 46 thousand force.
The government recently raised the salaries of chief union dafadars from Tk 2100 per month to Tk 3400 and those of neighborhood dafadars to Tk 3,000 from Tk 1,900 per month, to be effective from July next.
Others who were present on the occasion were Shirin Akhter, MP and Nazmul Ahsan Jewel, secretary of Jatiya Sramik Jote.
