Bangladesh University of enginnering and Technology (BUET) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Saiful Islam met the aggrieved students 36 hours after the gruesome killing of Abrar Fahad.
To the students, he said, “In principle, I agree with whatever the demands you have raised.”
The VC, however, did not make clear as to which demands would be realized. Asked as to why he came late, he responded saying that he was communicating, meeting with the ministers all day-long. If I did no do that, how this situation would be sorted out. “Everything is not in my hands,” he added. He also rejected the proposal to stage a separate meeting with the students. Agitating students were chanting slogans against the VC.
Abrar Fahad, a second year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of BUET was allegedly beaten to death in the Sher-e-Bangla Hall early Monday . The body of Fahad was found lying between the first and the second floors of Sher Bangla Hall.
