Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Dhaka (West) collected 36 percent more value added tax (VAT) in April in this fiscal 2018-19.
In this month, VAT collection rose to 245.87 crore which was a surplus by Taka 15 crore to the collection target of Taka 233.41 crore.
The collection was Taka 181.10 crore in April of previous fiscal, according to the statistics of VAT Commissionerate.
Commissioner Dr Moinul Khan told BSS the increased collection is an outcome of strict monitoring, visit, dialogue with businessmen and other activities.
He hoped this booming trend of VAT collection would continue in May and June.
Statistics showed the VAT collection in the Commissionerate in first ten months stood at Taka 989 crore in this fiscal which was Taka 777.88 crore in the same period of previous fiscal.
