Prof Anu Muhammad on Friday said university teachers’ activities are not like as teachers as some teachers’ activities are same to political cadre.
The administration of Dhaka University (DU) is also plying an autocratic role like Ayub Khan period administration, he said.
He made the remarks while addressing a solidarity rally at the foot of Raju Sculpture in front of the Teacher- Student Centre (TSC) of DU.
Pragatisheel Chhatra Jot, an alliance of left-leaning student organisations, arranged the rally protesting the attack on general students by leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Tuesday on DU campus.
Member Secretary of the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources, Power and Ports, Prof Anu Muhammad also said, “Students have the right to press home their demands to vice- chancellor and it’s a responsibility of VC to hear students’ demands. He has no right to attack on students by calling pro-government student organisation leaders.” It’s a shame for us that after assaulting the general students, Awami League leaders are supporting BCL activities and saying that BCL men didn’t assault any student,” he added.
