The graduates and postgraduates of the country’s reputed public universities have applied for the 3rd class level posts in Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Some of them applied for ‘typist posts’ also.
The officials said that they became astonished seeing the applications for the posts of typist by the students of reputed public universities, including Dhaka University and Jahangirnagar University. They also said that the applications for the lower posts broke all the previous records.
Director General (Administration and establishment) Md Shahiduzzaman said, the ACC always plays transparent role during the recruitment examination and select the candidates on the basis of merit.
“The recruitment examination of the ACC always is competitive. Hundreds of candidates apply for the official posts of the commission. But this year the number of applicants is too large,” he said.
An official of the commission wishing anonymity told The New Nation, “We cannot expect that a candidate who studied at noted public university will apply for the 3rd class post. This is also shameful for us as well as for the country.”
Mehrab Hasan, who achieved post-graduation from Jahangirnagar University, also applied for ‘typist post’ said, “I need a job now, not certificate. It is not important to me which university gave me certificate.”
Md Munir Hossain, who completed post-graduation in History from the Dhaka University applied for Assistant Inspector post (3rd class), said that after five months he would not be able to apply for any job as his age is now 29 years and seven months. That is why he applied for the post.
“I have been trying to get a job for six years, but failed to attain it. I have faced several viva-voce, but result is zero. Now I am hopeless as well as helpless,” Munir said.
The ACC sources said that 61,580 candidates applied for 42 posts in nine categories. As per the number of the candidates 1,466 will compete for one post.
