Staff Reporter :Valentine’s Day was celebrated in the country on Saturday with much enthusiasm and cheers. People, mostly young couples, thronged different visiting places wearing colorful dresses on the day.In the city, people were seen visiting Dhaka University campus, Ramna Uddyan, Hatirhjheel, Rabindra Sarobar of Dhanmondi. Men were seen wearing panjabis while women wore colorful sharees. Youths were meeting each others with flowers and Valentine’s cards. People came out of houses with colorful dresses amid a festive look.Thousands of couples attended different kind of programs to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Especially on the Dhaka University (DU) campus yesterday where they were able to express their feelings of love to the opposite sex in an atmosphere of fun, frolic and festivities. The day does not have much scope for privacy, as it will witness mainly the youthful, sprightly exuberance centering the most precious feeling of youth… romance adding to the elegance of presenting one’s loved one with a rose are the greetings cards brought out by the famous outlets Archies and Hallmark sold cards and gifts items on discount to mark the day. On the other hand many hotels, cafes and restaurants offered different types of attractive gifts for couples. Though love is not for a special day but it can be easier to express one’s love in a special way in the day. Our country is practicing this traditional day for last few years with gift cards, roses, dresses, heart shaped show pieces and so on.
