List of people waiting for vaccination of Covid jab has been becoming bigger day by day as the Covid infection is on rise across the country.
People registered their names through the online introduced by the health authorities but they do not know when the dates of vaccination will be given.
Latest data from the Directorate General of Health Services showed on Thursday that a total of 2,95,62,551 people had been registered through online for a Covid jab.
A total of 1,50,23,162 people from the registered list have been inoculated with first doses of Covid jabs.
Besides, about 50,65,945 first dose vaccine recipients got the second shots so far.
As per the account, as many as 1,45,39,389 people are still waiting for the vaccination.
Many vaccine seekers have registered their names through the online before one month ago but the SMS informing dates of their inoculation are yet to arrive.
In this situation, most of those registered vaccine seekers have become frustrated.
“I have registered one month ago for getting a jab, but till today, I have not got any SMS informing me the invitation date of being inoculated. I am really tired,” said Murshida Hasan, a homemaker of RK Mission Road.
She informed that some of her neighboring women are also waiting for a text after registered themselves few months ago.
All of them have chosen Mugda Medical College and Hospital for their inoculation center.
When contacted, Dr. Asim Kumar Nath, Director of Mugda Medical College and Hospital, told The New Nation, “There are lots of people seeking a Covid vaccine as the delta variant has attacked our country seriously. The capability of a vaccination center is limited. Everyone should consider the matter.”
He said the number of registration have been rising as the government lowered the age limit of jab seekers to 25 years.
As a result, the waiting lists are also being lingered day by day.
Asking the jab seekers to be patient, he said, “We are giving priorities to older aged people and migrant workers,” he said.
Meanwhile, the government on Saturday kicked off six days mass vaccination drive aimed at inoculating 3.5 million people.
In this programme, Covid-19 jabs were administered simultaneously in 4,600 unions, 1,054 municipality areas and 433 wards of the city corporations.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Zahid Malek also asked the waiting vaccine seekers to be patient.
“Everyone will be vaccinated, we cannot vaccinate everyone at a time. We are trying our best to buy more vaccines. Everyone will get vaccinated. You have to be patient,” the health minister said on Thursday, while speaking at a training workshop in a city hotel in the capital.
The health minister also requested all to maintain health rules strictly.
