Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon has taken the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Monday.
The BCB Chief received the dose at Kurmitola General Hospital in capital city Dhaka at around 12.00 in the noon.
Nazmul Hasan Papon said the corona vaccine is not mandatory for cricketers. He was vaccinated at Kurmitola General Hospital on Monday. Papon said “Cricketers are not being forced to take vaccine, it’s their choice. They will be given whenever they want”
Bangladesh will visit New Zealand later this month. BCB wants to vaccinate national team cricketers before that tour. Meanwhile, half of the cricketers on the New Zealand tour have been vaccinated for corona, Papon informed. The rest of the cricketer can get if they want.
“50 percent of the cricketers have been vaccinated on Sunday. The rest are a bit hesitant. In that case, they will get vaccine by today or tomorrow.” Papon further said.
BCB also pushing for a resumption in domestic cricket once vaccination in done. Bangladesh’s men’s and women’s emerging team will be taking fields in the coming days.
