A three day programme of 45th victory day began yesterday (Wednesday) in the district.
Under the auspices of Narayanganj district administration in commemoration of thirty lakh martyred freedom fighters who laid down their lives in the war of liberation at the call of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1971.
Deputy commissioner M Rabbi Miah inaugurated the programme by opening painting competition for children at Chasara Preparatory School at 9 am in the morning.
After then an essay writing competition was held on “Sheikh Hasina and development in Bangladesh” in different educational institutions, ignition of candle lights at Chasara victory monument on the occasion of the observance of “Martyred intellectual day”.
On December 15, shooting competition will be held at Narayanganj rifle club in the morning and placing of floral wreaths at Masdair place of execution at 11am.
December 16, The victory day’s programmes will be heralded with the booming of 31 gun salute at 1 minute past 12 midnight.
National flag will be hoisted atop all public and private buildings at 6 am. A display of freedom fighters, police, Ansar, VDP, Fire service and civil defence, BNCC, Boy Scouts, Girls guide, Rover scouts and madrasha students will be held at Osmany Stadium at 9 am.
A reception will be accorded to the families of martyred and disabled freedom fighters at Narayanganj club Ltd. at 1 pm.
