The bodies of two suspected militants who were killed during a raid in the city’s Ashkona in last December were handed to a charitable body for burial.
As the bodies of Shakira, 28 and Asif Quaderi, 13 were kept at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue and remained unclaimed for long and
authorities concerned decided to hand over the bodies to Anjuman-e Mofidul Islam for burial, said Dr Sohel Mahmud, Head of Forensic Department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
He said, “These bodies were handed over to the Anjuman-e Mofidul Islam for burial as these were not claimed by anyone.”
Nur Amin, Duty Officer of Anjuman-e Mofidul Islam, received the bodies around 11:30 am, he said.
The counter-terrorism unit of Dhaka police raided a three-storey building suspecting the militants’ presence on the night of December 23, last year. During the operation codenamed ‘Ripple 24’, two “militants” were killed and four others including wife and daughter of slain Neo-JMB military chief Major (retd) Jahidul Islam surrendered to police, said CTTC unit Inspector Saidur Rahman.
