UZ chairman sued for stealing electricity in Kachua

S.M. Wahiduzzaman, AGM (Admin), Bagerhat Pally Bidyut Samity registered a case with Kachua PS in Bagerhat district as the plaintiff against S.M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Upazila Chairman of Kachua in Bagerhat and two others on Saturday night on the charge of stealing electricity worth Tk. 8.20 lakh .
 DB police of Bagerhat raided Signboard Bazar area under Kachua Upazila on the same day and arrested two accused persons. They are : Yasin Gazi alias Shuvo (55), son of one late Kawsar Gazi of Daulatpur Road in Khulna City Corporation and Shaikh Sagar Hossain (35), son of one Shaikh Atiar Rahman of Khanjahanpur area under Fultala Upazila in Khulna district. They were sent to the jail hajat through the court on Sunday noon.
It is stated in the FIR lodged with Kachua PS that S.M. Mahfuzur Rahman (60), son of one late Shaikh Anwar Hossain of Signboard area, Upazila Chairman of Kachua and owner of a ice factory, a rice mill and a saw mill, situated at Signboard had been stealing electricity with the assistance of 2 other accused persons for long and electricity worth about Tk.8.20 lakh has been stolen so far.
Acting on a secret information DB police raided the area and arrested 2 out of 3 accused persons. But police could not arrest S.M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Upazila Chairman of Kachua and the main accused. At that time police recovered some apparatus used in pilfering the electricity from their possession.
Shamsher Ali, Officer-In-Charge of Kachua PS confirmed the filing of the case to the newsmen and told, all the culprits will be brought under law.
