Pirojpur district’s Kaukhali Upazila Chairman Abu Sayeed Manu was found in the river in guise of a fisherman on Thursday night.
It surprised the Pirojpur Police Super Hayatul Islam Khan, Additional Police Super Molla Azad Hossain and District Fishery Officer Mosharraf Hossain who were giving a drive in the Sandhya river in Pirojpur district. Though the
chairman claimed that he was guarding the hilsa fish against illegal fishing.
Three hilsa fish and about five thousand meters of current net were found in his boat.
The Upazila Fishery Officer (current charge) said, none can give drive in the river during ban without the permission of the administration and the fishery department.
However, local sources said that the upazila chairman often goes to the river in guise of fisherman for fishing.
