Upazila electioneerings: UZ chairman candidates vow to work for Kulaura dev

Five upazila chairmen, six upazila vice chairmen, two women vice chairmen candidates have vowed to take up massive programmes for the development and beautification of the Upazila in the district. The candidates made the commitments at a face-to-face election dialogue at Dak Bangla field in Kulaura of the district on Saturday.
Sushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Shujan), a civil society platform working for good governance, organised the dialogue with Upazila Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and Women Vice Chairmen.
All candidates promised that they would take initiatives to ensure the supply of pure drinking water as well as to recover the occupied canals and drains in the Upazila. Besides, they pledged to take special programmes to ensure health facilities for the poor and waste management.
All the aspirants raised their voices against corruption in the Kulaura Upazila Parishad.
Md. Soukotul Islam said, “I will hold meetings with city dwellers every month and take into account their suggestions regarding the development of the Upazila. I will try my best to do everything for their well-being.”
Md. Abdul Hannan said he would take initiatives to deal with mosquito menace, supply of pure drinking water and beautify the city. “I will design a master plan for the development of the Upazila if I am elected a Chairman.”
Md. Kamrul Islam said if he is elected an Upazila, the door of the Upazila office would remain open for all. I will be successful in running the Upazila administration since I have relevant experience in administration as well as in management in addition to my education, he added.
Ahbab Hosain Rasel assured that if the upazila dwellers elected him as a chairman, he would wage a war against corruption in the city corporation. “I will fight against corruption and corrupt officials in the Kulaura Upazila, if elected as a Vice Chairman.”

Shujan Kulaura Upazila chapter Secretary Md. Siraj Uddin Ahmed moderated the programme.
The candidates raised their hands jointly and promised that they would accept the verdict of the voters. They said, they will help the winner for the welfare of the Upazila dwellers as well as to make the Upazila an enlightened one, adding that they will also remain vocal against corruption and violence.
