There are many reputed and popular singers in our country like Shakila Jafar, Parvin Sultana, Alam Ara Minu, Dolly Shayontini, Badshah Bulbul, Ankhi Alamgir, Emon Saha, Bappa Mazumder, Ibrar Tipu, among others, whose mentor of music was Ustad Sanjib Dey. Among them, many learnt music from him for more than 24 years.
Now-a-day, there are many singers who do not have interest to continue practice and learning of music.
Basically Ustad Sanjib Dey is a trainer of pure classical music. He had a family attachment with music from many years. His grandfather Peyari Mohon Dey and father Mithun Dey were also trainer of classical music. He also stepped forward to them from his student life. He gave training on classical music to many students at Chhayanaut from 1974 to 1991.
Later he started to give training on classical music to the interested singers at own residence.
In his long time career, thousand students received training from him in classical music. But he has dissatisfaction in his life.
While talking in this regard he told this correspondent, “There is about 30 TV channels in the country. But any channel doesn’t have any programme of 30 minutes in a day on classical music per month. If this programme airs in satellite channels people show interest to learn classical music in the country. Owners of these TV channels should look after in this regard.”
Hailed from Mymensingh today is birthday of Sanjib Dey. He expects his students will make the day colourful.
