Using technology to decrease corruption on land emphasized

Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif stressed the need for using modern technology in land management system to combat corruption in the land sector.
“We have already declared “zero tolerance policy” against all sorts of corruption and public harassments in attaining land related services and adopted a realistic approach using modern technology against the menace,” he said this on the ninth instant while exchanging views with officials of the land ministry and ACC officials at his Secretariat office in the city.
The minister said as per directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the overall land management system has been upgraded to ease public harassment.
State Minister for Land Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said, “The government has a plan to set up a land bank where the details of khas lands and other government lands will be preserved.”
Speaking on the occasion, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Commissioner Dr Nasir Uddin Ahmed recommended introducing ‘help desk’ in the land offices to reduce people’s suffering at the time of mutation and survey settlement.
Among others, Land Reform Board Chairman (secretary) Mahfuzur Rahman, Additional Secretary of land Akram Hossain, Director General (DG) of ACC Md Asaduzzaman and ACC Director Syed Iqbal Hossain, were present on the occasion.
