Use of jute bags can bring back golden glory

Speakers here underscores for large- scale promotion of jute sacks as effective means of revitalising the lost glory of golden jute.
They viewed forging social resistance against use of plastic bags has become an urgent need for protecting the environment from further degradation. They also emphasised on wide-ranging promotion of jute bags instead of the polythene bags.
Use of plastic bags by the wholesale traders, vegetable vendors and other shops has been growing despite the ban on the use, production and storing of the environment-harming plastic bags.
The observation came at a post-rally discussion for the compulsory use of jute in packaging products held at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Office here on Wednesday. The District Administration and the Department of Jute jointly organised the rally and discussion to mark the ‘National Jute Day- 2019’.
Government and non-government officials and owners of the paddy, rice and automatic rice mills and businessmen attended the programmes.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner SM Abdul Kader the meeting was addressed, among others, by Additional District Magistrate Alamgir Kabir, Deputy Director of Department of Agriculture Extension Shamsul Haque, Project Head of Rajshahi Jute Mills Engineer Ziaul Haque and Assistant Director of Department of Jute Moriam Begum. The discussants unanimously mentioned that the present government is working sincerely to revive past glory of jute, the golden fibre of the country, through boosting its production and demand both at home and abroad.
