UNB, Dhaka :In response to a writ petition, the High Court on Monday issued an order to use Bengali in signboards, nameplates and number plates of vehicles as well as electronic media advertisements.A High Court bench comprising Justice Kazi Reza-ul Haq and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain passed the order after a hearing on a writ petition filed by Supreme Court lawyer Yunus Ali Akand on Sunday.Yunus Ali said, the court also issued a rule asking why a directive should not be issued over the use Bengali in all spheres of life, including the mass media.The Cabinet Secretary, the Law Secretary, the Secretary of Home Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Secretary were made respondents to the rule, which is returnable within two weeks.The court also ordered them to introduce Bengali in all spheres within the next 30 days as well as submit a compliance report in this regard by April 1.
