The United States will face off against World Cup nemesis Trinidad and Tobago after being grouped with the Soca Warriors, Panama and Guyana for the group stage of the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Wednesday. The USA suffered a shock 2-1 defeat against Trinidad & Tobago in the final round of qualifiers for the 2018 World Cup two years ago, a result that allowed Panama to scrape into the finals in Russia at the Americans’ expense. Gregg Berhalter’s defending champions will now have the opportunity to avenge that humiliating reverse in Group D of this year’s 16-team regional championship for North America, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF).
