US to share info to help probe recent killings: Asad

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Thursday said the United States of America (USA) offered support through ‘sharing information’ in an effort to investigate the recent killings in the country smoothly.
“They (US) wanted to help us by giving information and other things,” he told reporters at Secretariat after a meeting with William E Todd, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs, US Department of State.
US Ambassador in Dhaka Marcia Stephens Bloom Bernicat also attended the meeting.
Asked what they discussed, the Home Minister said they (Bernicat and Todd) came here to convey condolence over the recent killings, including that of policemen, in the country.
He also said, the US delegation expressed satisfaction and thanked the government for tightening security measures in the country recently.
When asked about the issuance of security alert by various countries, the Home Minister said they issue security alert for their citizens in almost every countries of the world which is usual. “They issue it for the security of their citizens. This is not something additional”.
When asked about the issues discussed in the meeting William E Todd said, “We talked about wide range bilateral programmes between two nations.”
He said they also discussed about broadening cooperation between the two countries in countering violent extremism.
