Despite Covid-19 still spreading, the United States Golf Association (USGA) is optimistic about keeping the championship at Winged Foot Golf Club in suburban New York on the schedule and remains hopeful that spectators in some limited form will be able to attend, local media reported on Sunday. “We are focused on Winged Foot. Winged Foot is a special place for us, and the golf course there is amazing,” said John Bodenhamer, senior managing director of championships for the USGA. “Time is on our side. We did look at multiple scenarios, but now we felt we could focus there.”
