The US federal government registered a budget surplus of about 106.9 billion US dollars in April, and the combining budget deficit in the first seven months declined significantly, the US Treasury Department said Monday.
The federal government raked in a revenue of 414.2 billion dollars last month, an increase of 1.8 percent year on year. Spending totaled 307.4 billion dollars, up 4.6 percent from a year earlier, the department said in a report.
The combined budget deficit in the first five months of the current fiscal year, which ends at the end of September, stood at $306.4b.
