US Ambassador to Bangladesh Marcia Stephens BlomBernicat has called on Chittagong City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin at Nagar Bhaban office on Wednesday evening.
City Mayor congratulated the US diplomat for visiting the CCC office and Chittagong city . During the visit, US diplomat proposed to build friendship with the light of twin city concept with Chittagong City and Shikago city of America .
The US diplomat also hailed the bold leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and peacefully mitigated the long standing border disputes with India. City Mayor apprised the visiting diplomat about the control of militancy activities in Chittagong . He further said America is our development partner and thanked the US govt for continuous cooperations to Bangladesh.
The diplomat also discussed the intrusion of Rohingya nationals and human trafficking matters with CCC Mayor. During the courtesy call Panel Mayors Hasan Mahmud Hasni, Jobaira Nargis, Executive Magistrate Nazia Shirin and personal secretary to Mayor Nazrul Islam were present , CCC sources said.
Meanwhile, US Ambassador Bernicat also hold talks with the city BNP President and Advisor to the BNP Chairperson Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury at latter’s Mehdibagh residence in city on Wednesday night .
She went to Amir Khasru’s residence at 8.00 pm and hold discussions with cordial atmosphere followed by dinner at his residence.
The visiting diplomat left the residence of BNP leader at 10.45 pm, a reliable sources said. During discussions with the BNP city president , they discussed the different matters including political situation of the country. The US diplomat gave patient hearing to the allegations of the BNP leaders , sources said. Besides, the exchanged views of the prospective sides of the port city for future development .
During the discussion, BNP city Vice President Abu Sufian, Vice President Shamsul Alam, General secretary Dr. Shahdat Hossain and central BNP member Mahbubur Rahman Shamim were present . This was the unscheduled visit of US Ambassador in Chittagong , conscious circles observed.
