US Embassy’s new phone numbers

block

UNB, Dhaka :
The US Embassy phone numbers will move from seven digits to eight digits from Saturday as part of its transition to new fiber-optic phone lines.
The new phone lines will bring better connectivity, cleaner calls, and direct dial capabilities from outside the Embassy, said a press release on Thursday. The current prefix will change from 885 to 5566. For example, a number that is now 885-5500 x2719 will become 5566-2719. The new Embassy Switchboard number will not, however, follow this pattern and will simply become 5566-2000.
The new phone lines starting with 5566 are already active. The old lines starting with 885 will also remain active as they work out any complications with the new system, it added.
